Pages for the genus Leccinum revised by Michael Kuo. The new treatment is more "mycological" than other pages at MushroomExpert.Com, and represents an attempt to begin the long process of clarifying the genus for North America. Included are:
Many other species are treated as Uncertain Taxa, but only the oak-, hornbeam-, and conifer-associated species are thoroughly addressed--leaving the bulk of the genus (species associated with birch, aspen, and members of the Eriaceae) for later development, hopefully in the winter of 2007-2008.
Photographers featured on these pages include John Plischke, Pam Kaminski, Richard Nadon, Irene Andersson, Dianna Smith, Alexander Smith (courtesy of the University of Michigan Press and Herbarium), Roy Halling (courtesy of the New York Botanical Garden), Sören Gutén, Koukichi Maruyama, Dan Luoma, and Katherine Jacobs.
