Suillus bresadolae is a denizen of the European mountains, associated with European larch in the Alps and the Carpathians. It features a thickly slimy, reddish brown cap, a gray pore surface composed of large, radially arranged pores, and a reddish brown stem with a collapsed ring and a yellow apex.

There are several similar mushrooms, also associated with larch. Suillus viscidus features a gray to pale grayish brown cap, and a whitish pore surface; Suillus tridentinus features a drier, more fibrillose cap and a bright orange pore surface; Suillus grevillei has a dry cap ranging from yellow to brownish red, and a bright yellow pore surface. Finally, Suillus bresadolae flavogriseus, sometimes called Suillus nueschii, features a yellow cap and stem with a whitish veil.

Odor and Taste: Not distinctive.

Microscopic Features: Spores 8–13 x 4–5 µm; boletoid-fusiform; smooth; dull yellow in KOH. Basidia 28–35 x 7–10 µm; clavate; 4-sterigmate. Cystidia in bundles; 50–70+ x 7.5–10; mostly cylindric with subclavate or merely rounded apices; thin-walled; smooth; brown in KOH. Pileipellis an ixocutis. Clamp connections not found.
