The Stinkhorn Project is an effort to better understand an astonishing group of fungi. Simultaneously beautiful and repulsive, stinkhorns have captured the imagination of many--but they remain poorly understood from a scientific perspective. Our goal is to study the morphology, ecology, and DNA of stinkhorn collections from across the globe.

  • If you would like to contribute a collection to the Stinkhorn Project, please visit this page for information on successfully collecting, photographing, preserving, and mailing specimens.

  • Collections that are already part of the Stinkhorn Project can be seen in the project's database.

Information regarding the progress of our studies will be posted here as the project develops.
