County or City: Jackson
State or Province: OR
Country: USA

Collector's Notes: We gather these at about 1,400 feet in what is called the oak woodlands. Here the black oak and madrone trees mix. Also prominent are douglas-fir, incense cedar, and ponderosa pine. The soil is well drained and loamy. Other plants that abound here are buckbrush, deerbrush, manzanita, and poison oak. The turkey decoy photo shows the beginning of this area. You have to get up past the decoys into the thick brushy confined areas.

Note: This collection has been identified as Morchella frustrata, and is cited in Kuo et al., 2012.
