Collection Date: June 18, 2004

County or City: Mineral
State or Province: MT
Country: USA

Collector's Notes: Blonde morel. Burn date: Summer 2003 Note: This collection started along the creek where the [June 15, 2004] collection left off (further South). Habitat: Approx 3700 feet along South flowing creek. The area along the creek was very moist and still offered lots of shade for the mushrooms. This moist area varied from 10 to 75 feet from the creek. The floor of the forest around the creek was also very needle covered. The drier area further away from the creek was pretty much done producing by the time this collection was made. The moist area along the creek produced a great variety of morel species. Even though it was the middle of June, there were still lots of conicas in along the creek, and the later season greys and blondes were starting to flush too. There were also lots of Gyromitra gigas/montana (False Morels) growing along the creek. There was an East facing slope along the creek where this collection took place. Note about the names used by collector: Around here "Grey Morel" seems to be a generic name for late season morels that appear after the conicas. The "greys" appear to encompass a couple different species, or subspecies, of morels.

Note, 2012: Collection not sequenced; not cited in Kuo et al., 2012.
