MDCP Record for 05300402 Collection Date: May 30, 2004 County or City: Ravalli Collector's Notes: A 'gray' with a gray stem and hairs in the pores, although the hairs or fuzzy appearance is not as obvious as when first picked. The grayish coating on the sides of the mushrooms have scraped off somewhat in handling. Harvested from a burn area, which burned approximately July 15, 2003. The burn area is at 4000 to 5000 ft elevation. These were harvested on a bench at about the 4300' elevation level. The area is a mixture of mainly lodgepole pine with some Douglas fir and larch. Soil seems quite fertile for a mountainous region, moist and pine needle covered. Geopyxis vulcanus can be observed in the whole burn area. Quite a bit of rain fell in May in the area.
