MDCP Record for 05200402 Collection Date: May 20, 2004 County or City: Fergus Collector's Notes: Yellow morel. Somewhat dry, multiple fruit from one root system . . . A 4 year old burn area on S. facing slope at roughly 5500 feet. Cluster of morels in sort of dip in soil. Accompanied by what appears to be a dandelion plant and some sort of thistle plant. Not much ash but dead pine needles and bare earth. Soil very damp and warm. The ground that we found them was on the edge of a bench it was mostly flat and got most of the sun. Note: This collection has been identified as Morchella prava, and is cited in Kuo et al., 2012. |
