Collector's Notes: The specimens . . . were found on May 8, 2004, on a sunny afternoon, about 72 degrees. The morels were only a few feet west of a paved bike path. The morels were about 15 feet north of a small man-made pond that is fed by pumped groundwater. The morels were at the edge of a mixed mostly deciduous forest with trees ranging from mature to seedlings, along with shrubs. We identified a live boxelder tree nearby, along with a number of live and dead elms. The forest floor was covered with mixed dried deciduous tree leaves. We noticed that trilliums, mayapples, and jack-in-the pulpit plants were blooming nearby. The ground was only slightly moist. There were only sprinkles of rain with temperatures in the sixties daytime (fifties nighttime) in the two days preceding our morel find. Only 4 small mushrooms were found in the area, and one of the four was dried up.

Note: This collection has been identified as Morchella esculentoides, and is cited in Kuo et al., 2012.
