Collector's Notes: This is what I called M. esculenta--comes up witth color ranging from off white to yellow. Pits and ridges were of random pattern. Some non-submitted specimens showed signs of reddish or rusty coloration on stems, which has in prior years been observed on the caps and stems of older specimens. Found in woods that were primarily ash, with some sycamore, elm, and cottonwood. Understory of hornbeam, paw-paws, and privet. The specimens appeared to be associated with the ash trees. The geography was on a small flood plain. Soil temperature of 55 degrees. The soil had been 46-48 degrees on 3/25.
