Collector's Notes: Landscape morels. Dark and light in color. . . . Generally they were what we consider small...1-3 inch tall. All the darker ones had a good conical shape. Couple of the lighter ones were more round in shape. The majority were pretty fresh." "Most were growing along the side of the greenway path in leaf debris. A few were growing right in the gravel of the pathway. The pathway is of new construction, probable been going on for about 6-8 months. It hasn't even been paved yet. Most of the trees down along this river stretch are Black Cottonwood. . . . These were the first morels of the year for us. We had not even seen a Verpa yet. The [deleted] Vally had been without rain since early March. We are usually wetter. Temperatures: night - 40-50 degrees. Day up to 75 degrees.
