MDCP Record for 05010305 Collection Date: May 01, 2003 County or City: Peoria Collector's Notes: This one had been stepped on when we picked other morels on April 29. The mushrooms we found then were 2-3 inches high, nicely formed and the flesh was firm. Fresh spore print color: white. We found about 8 around a dead tree; we couldn't identify the tree, it had no bark or branches, was just a big hollow trunk. White ash, elm, and mostly oak are predominant in this woods. The mushrooms were growing by a heavily traveled bicycle trail. It has been raining and cool lately, but the 29th, when we found the mushrooms, it was warm, about 72 degrees.
