False Morel Project Record for 06030401 Collection Date: June 03, 2004 County or City: Coles Collector's Notes: Lone specimen; toppled over when found; near a creek at the bottom of a moss-covered slope, in oak leaf litter; woods dominated by oaks and hickories. Cap about 4 cm across; some of it is missing, but it appears to have been broadly wavy-convex, perhaps with a bit of an inrolled margin. Hymenium evenly brown; smooth; slightly greasy to the touch. Excipular surface creamy; very finely pubescent. Stem 4 x 2 cm; white; with sharp ribs that extend onto the excipular surface and terminate about half-way out. Odor none. Flesh in stem apparently once chambered. Asci 8-spored; mostly about 145 x 17 µ. Spores broadly elliptical; smooth; uniguttulate with a very large oil droplet, and occasionally with tiny droplets at either end; 15-19 x 12-13 µ.
